Giles Dems at Apple Festival 3rd, 4th Oct 08 September, 2009

Apple Affair at West Dean Gardens

Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October

The West Dean Gardens Autum Apple Affair is soon upon us and this year boosts an added delight!

Giles Thompson, chef and proprietor, together with Rosemary Moon, writer and chef, will be judging the first West Sussex Bramley Apple Pie Competition! The Competition is open to all and comes as the Bramley Apple celebrates its 200th birthday this year. So roll up your sleeves, dust off the pastry cutters and get rummaging through the family cookery book to perfect a prize winning pie!

Also not to be missed with some delicious recipes are Giles’ food demonstrations ‘Apples for all Occasions’ at 3pm daily.

Both West Dean House and Gardens will be open during The Apple Affair on 3rd & 4th October. Visitors can take a peek inside the glorious flint-faced mansion and be guided around the State Rooms then see a display of over 100 varieties of apple grown in the Victorian walled kitchen garden, including the Bramley Apple, which celebrates its 200th birthday this year.
