Review: Michelin Eating out in Pubs 09 October, 2009

Situated on the edge of the Goodwood estate, this pub has pleasant pastoral views across to the racecourse's main stand in the distance.

The pub's owner has built up a good relationship with the Estate's latest resident, the Earl of March, who has given permission to use his family crest on its signage. A modern makeover has seen the bar and restaurant areas become clearly defined, the first being fitted out with comfy sofas and a blazing log fire.

The a la carte menu is supplemented in the evening by daily changing blackboard specials;in the winter game from the local estates, and in the summer fresh fish.Cooking is flavoursome and hearty, featuring simple British dishes such as stew, sea bass or steak.

While eating you'll often see a Rolls Royce drive by from the nearby test centre and there's a great collection of motoring photographs from the Festival of Speed on the walls.
